Our Forever Home

My Story

I would first like to thank you for taking the time to read my campaign. My name is Peter and this is my story.

I have relocated my wife and our two boys across country from New Jersey to Texas in hopes of seeking a better quality of life. My wife Kimberly and I helped my father in law run a small family business that at times was a great success but most times very stressful for the three of us. Schools started to become an issue once our boys entered elementary school and our neighborhood where we purchased our first home in 2008 was falling apart. It began to feel like odds were stacking against us and my wife decided in 2016 it was time to open a new chapter in our life. This marked the year our life was going to drastically change.

In July 2016 we met my older brother and his family who reside in Texas for the first time. We spent two days hanging out and getting to know each other while on vacation in Florida. After that time we spent together we spoke to each other everyday by phone or text and that Christmas we decided to road trip to Texas. It felt like we had always knew each other and this trip ignited our decision to relocate to Texas.

After many obstacles and a huge let down with selling our home in New Jersey we finally completed the process in April of 2017 and moved in with relatives until I finished my last semester of college and passed my last two certifications to becoming an ASE Master Technician. In May I graduated and passed both exams in July. To get to this point was so stressful, mentally and physically exhausting but the hardest part was yet to come.

Throughout the summer and into August we worked on closing down a family business that took many years to build. We emptied the shop box by box, loaded up a moving trailer and said our "See you later." to our family. The night before we left my wife cried until she fell asleep and I remember asking "Are you sure you want to do this?".

We hit the road on August 17th and arrived in Texas the following day. On August 24th Kimberly flew back to New Jersey to drive her vehicle back and the very next day, just a short week of living in Texas our area was hit by hurricane Harvey. She watched the news from New Jersey worried about the storm that was destroying the state we now called home. We decided I would hit the road and drive our sons north to Dallas away from the mess and she met us there on the 27th. We could not return home at this point. We were stuck but we were safe. We were devastated and very worried at what our future would become.

Thankfully after the hurricane that threw a huge wrench into our plans including the real estate market, we found a home. We found a home we are calling our forever home. A home where we can raise our children and build new memories. Every contribution towards helping my family make this purchase will be matched dollar by dollar and would be a great blessing to us.

With great appreciation,
Peter
