We currently find ourselves in a situation that is interesting. My daughter Hannah and I lost her mother ( my wife) to cancer last year. We had always wanted to buy a home, but finances had always prevented us from moving forward. Recently we were offered a unique opportunity to purchase a sweet little home being sold by a wonderful family who recently lost their parents. As you can guess, we had an instant connection to this house, and the family. However because of some miscalculations we have come to a bit of a snag, and do not have quite enough for the down payment. So we are sending out the twilight bark to our friends and family ( and frankly anyone who feels moved to help). We are in need of help with the down payment, and appreciate any and all support. Thank you for taking this journey with us, and If you can't support this home journey financially, we would greatly appreciate your prayers and loving thoughts ( we think a little faith, trust, and pixie dust go a long way ). God Bless You - Jeff Smith

We are officially buying a beautiful 3 bedroom house on James Island with a big backyard for Baloo!! (Including a guest room for our visitors!) Our closing date is November 15th :) Our wedding is set for October, 20th 2018 here in Charleston and this really means a lot to us to be able to live together in our own home before we're officially husband & wife! We would be so appreciative for any donations from our friends and family. Thank you so much for your contributions during this big step in our lives! WE LOVE YOU!!

Hello! I am a 5th grade teacher in the Twin Cities. I am purchasing a home for myself in order to have the space I need to be successful. I want to buy instead of rent because I love the area in the Cities I have chosen and buying makes purchasing more attainable for me. As a teacher who is just starting out, a down payment feels daunting and the Home Fund Me program helps to ease the financial stress of having a living space of my own.

My husband and I have been living in the same rental house for 6 years, saving money for a down payment, paying down debt, etc so we could buy house to call home. Our lease is very strict and we have a small window of opportunity every year to buy a house during the spring before we would need to resign the lease for another year. This year he has sold the house, so we have to move regardless.Every year for the past 5 years this hasn’t worked out.In the Fall there was always one tragedy or another, losing jobs, I got cancer, which put us into a lot of debt, etc, which meant less money for down payment that next Spring. This year we had a plan to pay down debt and get out of our lease in October, so we could buy a house in the Fall, my daughter was getting married in early June, so there was no buying a house Spring 2018 in the cards. But then we found a house. I loved this house! It’s a big and old, and only an 11 minute walk from my daughters house! I couldn’t sleep after I saw the house because all I did was obsess about how can I make this work. The price kept dropping and even though we weren’t as prepared as we wanted to be, we went and got pre qualified and made an offer. Then the hard part, saving the down payment in a short time, while still trying to pay for my daughters wedding. Paying our regular bills, and paying down debt. It’s coming along, but not as well as we need it to.Additionally, we were originally doing a different type of loan, an fha 203k loan, which meant less down... well... that’s not working out so well, so it looks like now we need even more for the down payment than we were originally expecting because we are doing a traditional loan. I’ve raised my girls in this rental house for 6 years and it’s always felt like it’s suppose to be temporary. I want to continue to raise them in a house that feels like home. I want to let them paint their bedrooms whatever color they want. Not the stark white walls of this rental house. I want us all to feel like we are home. We have a very short amount of time to get the down payment together... which is why we need help. We appreciate any amount you can donate, and ever bit goes toward the down payment. Also, the bank will match some of the funds! You can make your gift contingent upon us closing on the house too, so if something doesn’t work out, you get your money back with no fees or anything. There are no fees and we get 100% of your donation, which goes right to the mortgage company when we close. Thank you.
